George Meany Center for Labor Studies Curriculum Catalogs
During the years 1987 through 1996, Maxine Taylor was an Artist-in-Residence on the campus of the
George Meany Center for Labor Studies located at 10000 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.
(Now known as the National Labor Center)
During this time Maxine would paint outdoors on the campus and at the end of the season she would
have a solo exhibit in the Gallery/Lounge of the Administration building. Several paintings were used
on catalogs covers.
‘For me paintings is a key to understanding inner feelings, a way of releasing the experiences each
of us holds inside, to transfer these feelings onto paper in order to share them.’
